Choose and Speak Life! – Deuteronomy 30:19

‘I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live’ – Deuteronomy 30:19

God has given us a lot of things in life and one of the greatest and dangerous virtues is the ability to choose. Genesis 2:16-17

It is a fact that our background, environment, circumstances and situations have conditioned most of us on how we use our mouth, many talk anyhow eg. People would say things like: ‘This flu, headache, pain or child will kill me.’, ‘I am Frustrated!’, ‘I don’t think this marriage will/can work’.  According to Proverbs 18:21 – Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. If you love to use tongue/mouth to speak death you will receive the result and if you love to use your tongue/mouth to speak life you will receive the result.

Man is made of Spirit, Soul (Mind, Will, and Emotion) and Body, take note of the order because it important to your understanding. When you become born again, your Spirit is saved and regenerated but your mind and body need transformation. I encourage you in renewing your mind through the word of God –  Romans 12:1-2 (emphasis on Myles illustration). It is very important that we renew our mind with the word of God because according to Romans 8:6 For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. (English Standard Version) and our Lord Jesus Christ said in John 6:63  that it is the spirit that empowers and the The Word that He speaks unto us ARE SPIRIT AND LIFE.

Don’t let your body or a not yet renewed mind to rule your life, it might lead you to death but choose life through the word of God. Our Lord Jesus Christ is The Word of God – John 1:1-3 and He is the Life that light men. John 1:4. When you choose Jesus Christ (The Word of God), you have chosen life and you MUST study The Word to renew your mind and become spiritually minded.

Stop and never allow your body to dictate what you say or do. Train yourself (the spirit man) to speak life always.

How to Choose Life

  • Determine to choose life in all situations
  • Speak life always
  • Don’t joke with your words because they shape who you are and the world around you
  • Renew your mind through the word of God because of it power to transform
  • Keep the right company/friend

Pray in this manner:
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, empower me to choose life through your Word always. – Deuteronomy 30:19

If you have not made Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal saviour, pray the prayer of salvation aloud  and you shall be saved.

Dear God in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness.

I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin.

You said in Your Holy Word, Romans 10:9 that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved.

Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my soul. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved.

Thank you Jesus for your unlimited grace which has saved me from my sins. I thank you Jesus that your grace never leads to license, but rather it always leads to repentance. Therefore Lord Jesus transform my life so that I may bring glory and honor to you alone and not to myself.

Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life. AMEN.
